Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy covers the Second Look Space tool, a personal tool that prepares short videos and uploads them to a YouTube channel. It is run by Joe Hughes (contact: contact@hughesnode.com).
The tool uses YouTube API Services. By using it you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles your data under the Google Privacy Policy.
Who this applies to
The tool is not offered to the public. The only person who connects a YouTube account to it is its owner. The tool does not collect data about visitors to this website: there are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
What data is read, and why
| Access requested | What the tool reads or does | Why |
|---|---|---|
youtube.upload | Uploads a video file with the title, description and visibility the owner approved. | To publish the owner's videos to the owner's channel. |
youtube.readonly | Reads the channel's own details and its own videos (titles, status, view counts). | To confirm an upload worked and to show the owner what is published. |
yt-analytics.readonly | Reads the channel's own aggregate statistics (views, watch time, audience retention). | To show the owner which kinds of videos perform best. |
The tool never reads private messages, comments by other people, subscriber lists or anything about other people's accounts. It asks for no other access.
How the data is used
Data from Google APIs is used only to provide these features to the channel's owner. It is not sold, not shared with other parties, not used for advertising, and not used to train machine-learning models. No human reads it except the owner. The tool's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Where it is stored, and for how long
- Access tokens are stored on the owner's own server, in a folder only the tool can read, until access is revoked. They are deleted within 24 hours of revocation.
- Statistics about the channel's own videos are kept while the channel is connected and are deleted within 30 days after access is revoked.
- Public statistics about other channels, if the tool is ever allowed to read them, are deleted after 30 days.
- Videos the tool uploaded belong to the owner and stay on YouTube until the owner deletes them there.
Data stays on that server and in its encrypted backups. Backups are overwritten on a schedule of 30 days.
How to revoke access
- Open Google Account permissions and choose “Second Look Space”, then “Delete all connections”. This takes effect immediately.
- Or, from the tool's control page, press “Disconnect channel”. The tool then deletes its tokens.
- To have stored data deleted sooner than the periods above, write to contact@hughesnode.com. Requests are answered within 7 days.
Your rights
You can ask what the tool holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to contact@hughesnode.com.
Changes
